. we were thinking mitt romney and his vice-presidential candidate, paul ryan, were determined to carry on campaigning even though the president was going back to washington and suddenly at midday trfs an announce from the campaigning, because of the sensitivity of millions of americans facing this emergency from the hurricane, mitt romney and paul ryan are canceling all their events for today and for tomorrow. and so it turns out this will be the last time that mitt romney will be seen on the stomp in public probably for a couple of days. so he's taking himself completely out of the picture. in ohio it's been clear from the speeches that they don't think they clinched -- this is a critical state. he needs ohio to become president. and these rallies are important to get people to talk to their friends and relatives to encourage them to vote or encourage them which from thinking they might vote for mr. obama to mr. romney and that doesn't seem to be happening right now. i think it ought to be hurting the campaign a bit. >> mark, very briefly. this is really a chance for the preside

ten times worse. so look at ryan's proposal. what does he do? he would cut 14.6% and he would cut noaa's satellite program by $250 million. and if you think ryan's proposal is bad wait until you get a load of romney's proposal. in order for romney's budget to work, he would cut nondefense entitlement spending which is where fema is by 40%! so unfortunately, this is exactly where we are. stuck between a rock and a hard place, between the guy who would cut us 3% and the guy who would cut it 40%. when you have those choices well it's clear. now, by the way president obama in this case has done a terrific job. when we had bill clinton in charge fema strengthened, terrific job. you have to call it as it is. you don't call it -- you don't call it balanced when it's not balanced. everybody remembers what happened under hurricane katrina under george w. bush, it was an absolute disaster because the guys don't believe in government. so when you put them in charge of government, they do a horrible job. that shouldn't be surprising. now, romney and ryan say oh, no, it's okay. even if we're g

paul ryan who is back out in wisconsin today. vice president biden in florida, and so is governor romney. he's got three stops in florida today. he was in ohio yesterday collecting supplies and thanking supporters for helping those storm victims and also avoiding questions about fema, the federal emergency management agency and their response to the storm. meantime, president obama probably won't be back on the campaign trail until tomorrow in colorado at the earliest. today, as you mentioned, he's visiting new jersey and getting a pat on the pack from new jersey governor chris christie who says the president has done an outstanding job so far with the recovery effort after the storm. meantime, the president will not be visiting new york city. mayor bloomberg says they have a lot to do in terms of trying to handle a presidential visit at this time. >> thanks so much. let's get back to sandy, two of the three major airports serving the new york area will start to reopen late they are morning. the super storm created a worldwide ripple effect for travelers. many of whom are still st

, in the dan henneger article, he cites, quotes you directly that paul ryan, putting paul ryan as you just suggested, a catholic, will actually fire up the evangelical vote. >> no question about it. you know, paul ryan is mostly known for his work on the budget, for his plans to reform and save medicare. and he's mostly known for his stands on fiscal issues. but you know very well, larry, that paul ryan is a serious and devout and faithful catholic. he takes his faith very seriously. he wrote an open letter to the catholic bishops defending his budget. according to catholic social teachings, specifically solidarity and subsidiarity which states that help for the poor and the needy should be at the point closest to the need and should not be bureaucratic. he's pro life. he's pro marriage. he's pro family. i'll tell you this, on economic issues, as well as cultural issues, when mitt romney picked paul ryan, he made it clear that he was not comfortable to just be the anti-obama. that he wanted to lean forward and have a reform-oriented, forwar forward-leaning campaign. a real alternative
